Commissioning Ceremony of the Christian Brothers Lay Volunteers Held
The orientation held at the East Harlem Community in New York City began on Sunday, August 21 when the new volunteers came together for the first time. The goals of the orientation were to help the new volunteers get to know each other and to learn about the history and charism of the Christian Brothers and their founder, Blessed Edmund Rice. Brothers Kevin Griffith, Gene DeLorenzo, Jim Moffett and Jack Flaherty facilitated the orientation. Associates, Tom and Mary Lesser, former volunteer, Dan Wolpert and Iona College Campus Ministry Head, Carl Procario-Foley also shared with the volunteers their insights on service, prayer, reflection and their experience of being part of the Edmund Rice Network during the week.
