The
Constitutions of 1984 of the Congregation of Christian Brothers
first mentioned associations of the faithful other than Christian
Brothers who might desire to follow the living of the charism of
Blessed Edmund Rice. By the time of the Congregational Chapter on
1996 the Edmund Rice movement was concretized "The Call to
the Wider Edmund Rice Family." By 2002 when the Congregation
again met in chapter in Rome, this became "THE EDMUND RICE
NETWORK — THE UNFOLDING STORY."
In North America a number of Edmund Rice movements have occurred
over the years: the Edmundians, the Edmund Rice Associates, the
Christian Brothers Volunteers, the Edmund Rice Prayer League. In
addition the concept of the Edmund Rice Network has been widened
to include many people unofficially associated with the Congregation
and the charism of Blessed Edmund. The Brothers in North America,
as part of the Edmund Rice Network, hope the relationship among
the various groups will be characterized by mutuality and accompaniment.
We hope that this website will assist in spreading the charism
of Blessed Edmund and encouraging people to live it. |
