Compassion and liberation in the spirit of Jesus and Edmund

Our Ministries

Though we were founded for the education of youth, the brothers recognized and addressed other needs from the earliest days. Our first permanent school included a bake shop and a tailor shop in order to provide basic necessities to the children. Our Founder and his early companions also visited prisons and even accompanied the condemned to the gallows.

Today the Christian Brothers are still engaged in education and a variety of related ministries including Diocessan offices of Education, Black Ministry and Hispanic Ministry. Others work in prisons, hospitals, and in migrant worker camps. Through our schools we strive to educate future leaders to be sensitive to the needs of the marginalized and to advocate for them.
